Mental health research consulting

Make better research decisions with people who live it.

HopeStage was founded by people with lived experience of mental health conditions. We bring years of community trust into rigorous, practical work with clinical research teams.

Why HopeStage

Not a panel assembled for one project.

HopeStage was built from within the mental health community, not simply to reach it. For years, people have listened to our podcasts and talk shows, joined our peer-support groups, taken part in psychoeducation programs and shared their experiences with us. This long-term relationship has built genuine trust and gives us a deeper understanding of what participants fear, need and expect.

We combine this community perspective with structured qualitative research, clear synthesis and practical recommendations for research teams.

Where we help

Questions we help research teams answer.

  1. 01
Why are potential participants not engaging?
  2. 02
What could prevent recruitment, retention or adoption?
  3. 03
Which language creates clarity and trust?
  4. 04
What assumptions are we making without speaking to people affected?
  5. 05
What should change before we invest in rollout?

A practical progression

Start with the smallest useful evidence.

Step 01

Trust and Friction Diagnostic

Review participant-facing materials, journeys, internal assumptions and existing evidence. Where useful, include rapid participant feedback.

  • Participant-facing material review
  • Journey and assumption mapping
  • Existing-evidence review
  • Rapid participant feedback when useful

Step 02

Participant Insight Research

Use interviews, focus groups, surveys, language testing and journey mapping to understand what people affected think, fear, misunderstand and need.

  • Interviews and focus groups
  • Surveys and language testing
  • Journey mapping
  • Structured synthesis
OutcomeDecision-ready participant insight
Step 03

Implementation Support

Turn insight into improvements across recruitment, communication, product, onboarding, retention or adoption. Validate changes through feedback loops.

  • Recruitment and communication changes
  • Product and onboarding improvements
  • Retention and adoption support
  • Validation feedback loops

Selected work

Patient insight should change the strategy, not decorate it.

HopeStage supported Alcediag with research and strategy that connected company constraints with patient reality.

  • Qualitative research
  • Audience segmentation
  • Patient language and positioning
  • Go-to-market recommendations
  • A strategy connecting company constraints with patient reality
Clément helped us understand the need of the patient and how to address it properly and respectfully.

For AI-enabled teams

Human context AI cannot infer on its own.

HopeStage can structure anonymized participant evidence for human teams and AI-supported workflows, while keeping interpretation, ethics and decision-making grounded in human judgment.

  • Anonymized transcripts
  • Thematic coding
  • Participant language maps
  • Structured files when useful

Test the assumption before it becomes an expensive mistake.

Bring participant reality into the decision before committing to the next phase of your research, product or recruitment strategy.
